Individual Professional Learning
Licensed Staff are provided the opportunity to explore Professional Learning Activities, outside of the district, on an annual basis. Professional Staff members are required to follow the following steps to receive approval to attend a conference or workshop.
- District Staff Members should check dates for availability with their Building Administrator.
- Staff Members should access the LCASD Personalized Professional Learning Approval form in Frontline under Forms This form will be routed to the appropriate administrators for approval.
- When a staff member receives approval in Frontline to attend, the staff member should register and pay for the conference/ workshop. Staff members are responsible for paying all registration fees and reserving hotel rooms (if necessary).
- Mileage will be reimbursed for one driver for every four conference/workshop participants. Individuals choosing to drive by themselves will not be reimbursed if they could have carpooled with another participant.
- Meals may be reimbursed for overnight stays only at the following rates; up to $13/breakfast, $15/lunch, and $26/dinner (as recommended by the US General Services Administration). Itemized receipts will be required upon return.
- Hotel expenses for workshops that are beyond 100 miles of Little Chute may be paid by the District. If multiple staff are attending the same conference/workshop, staff will be expected to share hotel rooms if the per night cost of the room exceeds $200.00 – exception: staff members are not expected to share rooms with administrators/directors. In the event a staff member is not willing to share a room, that individual will be required to reimburse the district the cost of a single room.
- After attending the conference/workshop, each staff member is responsible for completing the appropriate reimbursement paperwork. The maximum amount of expenditure funded by the district will not exceed $500 per person for any staff development opportunity. Costs above and beyond this amount will need to be personally funded. This amount may include reimbursement for registration fees, mileage, meals, and hotel expenses. If funds can be accessed through alternative sources (i.e. a grant) there is no maximum involved.
- Requisition for expenses and mileage are submitted to the Building Administrator. Be sure to attach receipts for all reimbursements of expenses. No reimbursement for expenses will be made without an itemized receipt(s).
District Arranged Professional Learning
- District Administrators may ask staff members to attend Professional Learning opportunities that support District or Building initiatives or goals. When staff members are requested to attend these events, the District will cover the cost of registration, complete all necessary registration paperwork and arrange hotel rooms (if necessary).

- If you are required to complete training outside of contracted time in order to teach (such as new curriculum adoptions or new classes), you will be reimbursed for all expenses - room, meals, registration fees - as well as the district defined hourly curriculum rate. while in session attendance (with a maximum of seven hours per day). For example, you are asked to teach a new math class for which you need CPM training.
- Professional Educators required to attend a conference/workshop outside of their contracted days (weekends or summer) may be compensated for their time, which would be communicated at the time of the offering.
