School Safety Resources
Welcome to the School Safety Resources page. We hope you find this information helpful. Please contact your student's principal or District Safety Coordinator, Kelly Wallace at her email if you have any questions regarding the information or if you have any safety concerns you would like to share with us.
The District utilizes different levels of safety protocols that may be initiated in the school buildings for a variety of safety reasons. Communication regarding safety protocols that are initiated during the school day, is shared via email through Infinite Campus. Please ensure your notification settings (directions to update contact preferences) are correct in your Infinite Campus parent portal to ensure you receive all information being shared by the district.

Hold or Secure safety protocols may be used during the school day for a variety of reasons, please see the below definitions as to how a Hold and Secure protocol is used.
HOLD
A Hold is initiated if we need to limit the movement of pupils within the building and from entering and exiting the building. In the event of a HOLD, the following take place:
- No traffic in the hallways. If a student needs to be transported anywhere, they must be escorted by an adult
- Teachers shut and lock their classroom doors and continue to teach
- No one is permitted to enter or exit the building
SECURE
A Secure is initiated if there is some sort of outside threat. Movement of pupils is prohibited. In the event of a SECURE, the following take place:
- No traffic in the hallways
- All students and staff need to stay in place with doors shut and locked and pupils need to move away from doors and windows
- Teacher continues to teach
- No one is permitted to enter or exit the building
A.L.I.C.E. Protocol
In the event of a violent intruder, ALICE will be activated. ALICE is not sequential, and staff and students may use any step at any time as the situation unfolds to increase survivability. The safety of your child while in our care continues to be our number one priority. To ensure safety standards are maintained and improved upon, we consistently conduct drills to practice the below safety protocols.
- Alert: An alert can be anything that alerts you or that you use to alert others to a possible violent intruder emergency. Examples may include gunfire, witness, intercom announcement, or phone alert.
- Lockdown; Barricade the door with anything available (desks, chairs, etc.); move everyone out of the line of fire from the door, however, we do not encourage restricting movements such as putting children in a closet or cubbies.
- Inform: Pass on real-time information using plain language.
- Counter: Taught to our adult staff, however, students may move, make noise and gain distance, if age appropriate, should there be contact with the intruder.
- Evacuate: Remove yourself from the danger zone as quickly as possible.
