Little Chute Food Service

The Little Chute Area School District’s Food Service Program is dedicated to providing nutritious, balanced meals that support student learning and well-being. In partnership with Taher Food Services, the district participates in the USDA National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs to ensure meals meet or exceed federal nutrition standards. With a focus on variety and wellness, the program offers quality meal options that promote healthy habits and a positive dining experience for all students.

Free and Reduced Lunch

The district participates in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program.

The preferred way to apply for free or reduced price meals is through the Infinite Campus portal at https://littlechutewi.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/parents/little_chute.jsp. Paper applications are available in English, Spanish and Hmong through the links to the forms below.

We cannot approve an incomplete application, so be sure to fill out all required information. Return the completed application to: Karen Moore, Business Manager, Little Chute School District, 1402 Freedom Rd, Little Chute, WI 54140. Phone Number 920-788-7605. Completed applications may also be returned to any school building office or the district office between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Our meal accountability system, Infinite Campus, ensures no student is overtly identified as being approved for subsidized meals when receiving their meal or milk.


Family Accounts

We utilize a computer-based accounting system that functions similar to a debit card.  Funds are paid in advance on the account and purchases are drawn against the balance. All students in the family share the same funds for food service. Each student is given a confidential food service number and ID card that is entered/scanned when a purchase is made. Families are able to review the transaction history, monitor the balance in their food service account and make payments to their account through their Infinite Campus parent portal. Families are expected to maintain a positive food service balance. The District will send notifications of account balances via e-mails, voicemails, and texts. If you are not receiving notifications please check your settings in Infinite Campus or contact your child’s school office.


Payments

Infinite Campus Parent Portal

We accept online credit/debit card payments via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.  A minimal convenience fee may be applied to this transaction.  Each school has a locked food service drop box for cash/check payments. Payments should be in an envelope clearly marked with the child's first and last name to assist in crediting the proper account. All payments are credited to the family account each day.

Families may carry a negative meal account balance of up to $10. While à la carte items require sufficient funds, students who exceed the negative balance limit will continue to receive a reimbursable USDA-approved meal in a respectful, non-stigmatizing manner. The cost of the meals will continue to accrue to the negative lunch account balance.  Please make every effort to maintain a positive food service balance.

We encourage families to discuss meal and a la carte purchasing guidelines with their children on a regular basis to prevent unwelcome purchases to their account.

All balances, positive or negative, in a family account at the end of the school year will be transferred with the family to the coming school year.  Any refunds of $5.00 or more for students leaving the district must be made in writing to: Food Service Director, Little Chute Area School District, 1402 Freedom Rd., Little Chute, WI 54140.

Infinite Campus Food Service (My Cart)

Within Infinite Campus, the food service tool allows users to add money to your family food service accounts. Within this feature, you can also see:

  • current account balances 
  • transactions in your accounts - purchases and deposits
  • any adjustments made to your account.

Below are the instructions to add money to your account.

Adding Money to your Account

  1. Select Pay
  2. Enter the amount you want to add in the Amount field. If a box is not available for you to enter an amount,
  3. Your account may not be active and you may need to contact your school.
  4. Select Add to Cart
  5. Select My Cart. The Checkout Screen displays.

Special Dietary Needs

If your child plans to participate in the breakfast and/or lunch program and has a food allergy or special dietary need, you are required to complete a meal modification form. (Spanish version). This request is considered an authorized medical statement and must be completed and signed by a state authorized medical authority or registered dietitian. The meal modification form helps our school nurse and food service provider understand your child’s needs and the foods that should be omitted, substituted and/or other food related modifications that may need to be made.  Further, for food allergies, our school nurse requires a food allergy health form (Spanish version).  Both forms are required annually.

Our food service provider takes extra measures to support students with food allergies. Additional measures include:

  • providing peanut-free food service
  • upon request, creating detailed menus for students with food allergies
  • providing training opportunities for their staff specifically related to food allergies
  • encouraging all students to ask about food allergies at check out and throughout the lunch process
  • offering an app and website that helps identify common allergens that may be part of the upcoming menu

Summer Meal Information

There are many organizations throughout Wisconsin that provide free healthy meals to children
throughout the summer. Visit the website and use the summer meals site finder to find a location in the area.


Triennial Wellness Report Card

The district has established a wellness policy (see board policy 8510) as a part of a comprehensive wellness initiative. A local wellness policy guides efforts to create a healthier school environment. Effective
wellness policies support a culture of well-being by establishing healthful practices and procedures for students, staff, and families. Every three years, the district is required to review our wellness policy.  See the latest results of that review in our Triennial Assessment Report Card.
