The staff at Flex Academy is dedicated to creating a blended-personalized learning experience for students. Our curriculum is based on students having a learning plan that meets their unique needs, enabling them to complete their requirements using their current achievement levels, not their grade level, as the basis for their individual paths.
Our academic curriculum is aligned to state and core standards while tailoring learning objectives, content, pace, and environment to students' unique needs. Our new culture of learning depends on creating a collaborative environment of teachers, Learner Coaches, students, community, and school. We will provide a strong emphasis on the 21st-century skills your children will need, such as the use of technology and student-driven participation in developing their language pathway in a variety of learning environments.
Flex Academy believes in mastering curriculum while targeting students' specific learning styles. We believe that each student is unique, and so learning experiences must consider the abilities, interests, learning styles, and preferred ways of expression of each student.
Project Based Learning
Project-based learning believes that students learn best when they're interested in a real-world problem. With teacher skilled guidance, students will take ownership of the challenges involved in solving a problem. In particular, they develop what has come to be called 21st Century skills: critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, and information media literacy.
Edgenuity
Edgenuity is a Web-based Integrated Learning System that will enhance every student's opportunity to achieve. The curriculum is aligned with state and national standards to provide engaging and stimulating lessons for students. Teachers and Learner Coaches will monitor student progress and work with them on learning activities. Students, Teachers, and Learner Coaches can access Edgenuity anytime or anywhere.
Tier 2 Interventions
Tier 2 Interventions are programs and strategies provided to students who require support in addition to universal support. The purpose of Tier 2 Interventions is to reduce the risk of academic or behavior problems. Students may receive additional small group support, matched to their needs at their instructional level. Teachers explicitly teach needed skills towards grade level expectations to fill gaps in learning. Students are given the opportunity to learn, practice, and build confidence in their skills between the coordination of the gradeband teacher and the Learner Coach.
