District Safety Protocols
Hold or Secure safety protocols may be used during the school day for a variety of reasons, please see the below definitions as to how a Hold and Secure protocol is used.
HOLD
A Hold is initiated if we need to limit the movement of pupils within the building and from entering and exiting the building. In the event of a HOLD, the following take place:
-
No traffic in the hallways. If a student needs to be transported anywhere, they must be escorted by an adult
-
Teachers shut and lock their classroom doors and continue to teach
-
No one is permitted to enter or exit the building
SECURE
A Secure is initiated if there is some sort of outside threat. Movement of pupils is prohibited. In the event of a SECURE, the following take place:
-
No traffic in the hallways
-
All students and staff need to stay in place with doors shut and locked and pupils need to move away from doors and windows
-
Teacher continues to teach
-
No one is permitted to enter or exit the building
