The Little Chute Area School District assesses student learning in a variety of ways for multiple reasons.  From mandatory, standardized state assessments to classroom-based, formative measures, student performance is reviewed, analyzed, and interpreted for meaning to improve classroom practice.  For specific assessment information, utilize the links below.


ACCESS for English Language Learners

  • A large-scale test that addresses the English language development standards that form the core of Wisconsin's approach to instructing and testing English language learners.
  • These standards incorporate a set of model performance indicators (PIs) that describe the expectations educators have of ELL students at five different grade level clusters and in five different content areas.

ACT Aspire

  • State-wide assessment for all 9th grade students in the fall and spring
  • State-wide assessment for all 10th grade students in the spring


  • State-wide assessment for all 11th grade students in the spring. Students may also elect to take this test more than once.


ACT Work Keys

  • State-wide assessment for all 11th grade students in the spring



  • Benchmarking tool administered in Fall, Winter, and Spring
  • Used to screen students for interventions and provide teachers ongoing progress monitoring for students receiving interventions.

Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening (PALS)

  • Mandatory state-wide assessment for 4K, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students in the Fall and Spring

Fountas and Pinnell Leveled Reading Assessments

  • Benchmark system designed to measure students growth in reading.
  • Administered K-6

Wisconsin Forward Exam

  • Assessment Wisconsin has adopted to replace the Badger Exam which replaced WKCE during the 2014-2015 school year
  • The Wisconsin Forward Exam is aligned to the Wisconsin State Standards which are designed to prepare students to graduate college and career reading
  • Will test students in grades 3-8 in English Langague Arts and Mathematics and Science in grades 4, 8, & 10.



  • Reports results of student achievement, behavior, demographics, and resources by district
