Mission:
Our mission is to empower mathematics students through exemplary curriculum, problem-based learning, collaboration, and mixed, spaced practice. We engage all students in learning mathematics through problem solving, reasoning, and communication.
Philosophy:
We share the vision of CPM... a world where mathematics is viewed as intriguing and useful, and is appreciated by all; where powerful mathematical thinking is an essential, universal, and desirable trait; and where people are empowered by mathematical problem-solving and reasoning to solve the world’s problems.
Goals:
The following Standards of Mathematical Practice provide a framework for all students to be successful math students.
- Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
- Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
- Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
- Model with mathematics.
- Use appropriate tools strategically.
- Attend to precision.
- Look for and make use of structure.
- Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
