Tim Wiedenbauer
K-8 School Counselor
Hi, my name is Tim Wiedenbauer (pronounced Wee den bow er) and am an addition to school counselors in the 2 buildings. This year I am spending my mornings in the elementary school and the afternoons in the intermediate/middle school. I work with teachers to provide life skill lessons in the classroom. I meet with students in a group setting to help develop skills in a more structured environment, and also meet with students one on one. I believe that developing relationships with the kids is the most important thing a counselor can do.
Some of my roles at the elementary school include, but are not limited to:
-
Whole classroom life skill lessons
-
Small Group life skill lesson
-
Individual life skill lessons
Some of my roles at the intermediate/middle school include, but are not limited to:
-
Meeting with students individually and in small groups to discuss students' concerns
-
Teaching a 5th grade life skills class to develop our students' social and emotional needs
-
Providing life skill lessons in the classrooms monthly
I started my school counselor journey later in life. I graduated from Lakeland University in November 2020 with my masters in School Counseling. While I was attending school, I was a Paraprofessional with the Appleton Area School District. The time at my first school was a valuable experience in understanding the importance of developing relationships with students.
While most of my day is working with students, my down time outside of school is important to me. I am an advocate of self-care. Everyone needs to take care of themselves. You can’t fill from an empty cup. My self-care is watching movies or watching Bob’s Burgers, building my next woodworking project, cooking or baking, being outside in the summer soaking up the sun or working in my flower beds.
