Mission Statement

The purpose of Business Education in the School District of Little Chute is to promote within our students, a quality work ethic, individual and business values and skills, knowledge of the technological advancements unique to business, and effectual competencies required for initial employment and advancement consistent with today's business requirements and the demands for the future.

Educational Philosophy

The Business Education Department at Little Chute High School will:

  • Educate all high school students in order to develop business, economic and computer literacy.
     
  • Provide opportunities for non-business students to acquire business knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to function effectively in their careers.
     
  • Provide occupational preparation for students entering the work force once completing high school or after further education.
     
  • Provide courses that are recognized as appropriate electives for college-bound students and provide advanced placement opportunities that are accepted by universities and technical colleges.
     
  • Provide a continuous program of planned learning experiences designed to help students effectively make intelligent and ethical decisions to fulfill their roles as a citizen, worker, and consumer.
     
  • Provide career information, which will help students relate their interests, needs, and abilities to occupational opportunities in the world of work.
     
  • Promote and provide needed leadership experiences through Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA).

 K-12 Program Goals

The goals of the Business Education Department at Little Chute High School are to provide students with an opportunity to:

  1. Develop business, economic, and computer literacy.
     
  2. Learn and apply leadership experiences.
     
  3. Obtain occupational preparation experiences for those students who can profit from these experiences and who plan to enter the work force and/or enter a related post-secondary educational institution training program.
     
  4. Develop business accepted standards of grooming, personality, attitude, manners, positive self-image, and dress so students can make a comfortable transition from high school to the world of work or higher education.
     
  5. Become aware of the many career opportunities in business and understand the technical skills, concepts, educational levels, and attitudes needed to succeed in those careers.
     
  6. Learn the efficient operation of the keyboard/keypad by the "touch" method.
     
  7. Acquire a fundamental business background that will allow for successful completion of post-secondary business programs.
     
  8. Gain an understanding of and be able to operate basic and more advanced word processing, database, spreadsheet, and presentation applications.
     
  9. Develop an appreciation and understanding of the role of business in a free-enterprise system.
     
  10. Gain a fundamental understanding of business in order to become intelligent buyers, users, and producers of goods and services.
     
  11. Learn that human relation skills and teamwork are just as important as technical skills in achieving a successful career.
     
  12. Enhance the basic skills of reading, mathematics, listening, decision making, and verbal and written communications.
     
  13. Develop and/or refine students' problem solving and decision making skills.
     
  14. Develop an appreciation for life-long learning in order to maintain job expectations
    .
  15. Develop effective career search and acquisition skills such as knowing where to look for career information, interviewing skills, and how to complete job application forms.
  16. Develop an awareness of global/cultural needs of international business.
  17. Develop an awareness of environmental concerns as related to business and industry.
     
  18. Demonstrate their proficiency in Business Education through various business competitions.
