The Little Chute Area School District is committed to increasing student achievement. The District has 3 Strategic Directions which include:
-
Building and Infrastructure
-
Improving Employee Quality
-
Safe and Secure Learning Experiences
The district uses staff and student data to implement appropriate curriculum, vary student programming needs and apply quality instructional methods.
For an example, students in grades 3-8 are tested two times per year through MAP testing. The information is used to determine student academic needs on an individual basis and to look at trends over time, which will lead to high quality curriculum development and better instructional practices. As mandated by the State, the WKCE is given to students in grades 3-8 and 10 each fall.
Students and staff are randomly surveyed to gather perception data in the area of curriculum, instruction, technology and assessment which is reviewed by the administration, school board, and at district level curriculum meetings.
Staff is also given opportunities to grow professionally based upon district initiatives and individual needs relative to their classroom instructional practice and professional development plan.
Staff is using Build Your Own Curriculum (BYOC), a web-based curriculum tool, to align curriculum aligned to the local, state, and national standards. Staff has begun the alignment of the Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts and math.
While assessments, perception data and other data collection are important, the philosophy of the Little Chute Area School District is to maintain a safe learning environment and to provide opportunities which will develop the whole child.
